Updated MLB Prospects Rankings - Top 25 Fantasy Baseball Prospects (Week 13)

We are back for another week of our fantasy baseball prospects rankings series, reviewing MLB prospects to make fantasy impacts in 2022. This week was Brayan Bello week and honestly, it was a bit disappointing. There was so much hype throughout the week, as we knew he'd make his debut on Wednesday, and in the end, the Rays got the better of him. It happens with young pitchers from time to time and that's the way it goes.

At the time of this writing, Bello has not been optioned therefore will not be on the list this week. He was No. 8 last week. Additionally, David Villar on the San Francisco Giants got called up and he will not be on the list either. Last week he was at No. 20 because I thought he wouldn't get called up until September but from a skill perspective, he would be Top 10. Darick Hall got called up last week too; he was No. 10 on the list last week.

You’ll find quite a few well-known prospects on the list — as well as some lesser-known players that could nonetheless provide key contributions to your fantasy league teams this season. As always, this weekly list is updated to reflect rest-of-season fantasy baseball values, and near-term impacts that these MLB prospects can make. Players who are playing in the minors but graduated from prospect status will also not be in the rankings.

Top MLB Prospect Rankings for Fantasy Baseball

The list below is for 2022 fantasy baseball redraft leagues. These are MLB prospects, rookies, and call-ups to potentially make a rest-of-season fantasy baseball impact in 2022. As prospects are called up, they are removed from the rankings. You can also see our top-250 fantasy baseball dynasty prospects for longer-term outlooks.

Fantasy Baseball Prospect Rankings #1-5

This order has not changed much. These are the five best prospects that have a chance at being called up in my opinion. David Vargas is No. 1 for the second straight week. The Dodgers are being extremely loyal to Justin Turner, and although Turner has been picking it up lately, he is someone who could get DFA'd if he cools off again.

Gabriel Arias went up to the show for a cup of coffee but is back in the minors now. I still believe in his talent. If Cleveland hopes to make the postseason, they could use his help. He needs a bit more time in Triple-A to shake the rust from a long layoff out.

Max Meyer leapfrogs D.L. Hall and becomes the top pitcher on the list again. Meyer appears healthy. He has three earned runs and 18 strikeouts in his last four starts (16.2 innings). Trevor Rogers continues to struggle and the team is relying on Braxton Garrett and Daniel Castano too. Meyer could help them. Miami is in the Wildcard race so a promotion would make some sense although they could potentially make a trade too.

Fantasy Baseball Prospect Rankings #6-10

D.L. Hall drops to six. Some lost some faith after having two rough starts. He bounced back with a four-inning, eight-strikeout game on July 1st and a six-inning, 14-strikeout game on July 6th. His promotion likely depends either on injury or whether Baltimore can get back into the wildcard race. Baltimore had a winning June, their first winning month since 2017. They are 4-2 to start July.

Jonathan Aranda is back on the list too getting optioned back to the minors. He only had three plate appearances in two games for the Rays.

Nick Pratto rounds out the Top 10 with a .363 OBP, 15 HRs, and eight SBs in 70 games played. They aren't in any rush to call anyone up if they don't need do. At the same time this team stinks, and they could move on from several guys via trade this month.

Fantasy Baseball Prospect Rankings #11-25

This tier are guys that I am not sure how much faith I have in them making an impact at all this season. Really, they are somewhat interchangeable in this tier.

Gunnar Henderson is at No. 12. He is dominating Triple-A with a .386 OBP, five HRs, and three steals in 25 games played.

Triston Casas drops to No. 17 and continues to fall. He is hitting off a tee and hasn't played a baseball game in nearly two months.

Hunter Brown is a prospect I like, but his role if he were to be called up is likely in the bullpen and not as a closer. He's made 11 starts and five relief appearances in Triple-A. He has a 33% strikeout rate but also a 10% walk rate that has to be improved upon. He has great velocity and a lot of potential.

Matt Brash and Oswald Peraza round out the list. I do not think Brash is bad and I could easily see him make some starts for Seattle in 2022. Peraza is a bit tougher. He is most likely a 2023 guy but he has 10 home runs and 17 steals in 61 games. His walk rate (7.7%) is low and has just a .310 OBP. For fantasy purposes, he could steal a ton of bases with double-digit home runs. They may not let him run with the likes of Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton in the lineup though. We won't know until it happens.
