Matt Bush Starting Against Nationals
3 years agoTexas Rangers right-hander Matt Bush will serve as the team's opener on Saturday against the Washington Nationals. Bush pitched on Friday in the series opener against the Nats, going a scoreless frame with two strikeouts, so he's unlikely to go very long in his start Saturday. Overall this year, the former No. 1 overall pick in 2004 has a 4.05 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP while striking out 36 and walking seven in 26 2/3 innings over 30 outings (three starts). In all three of Bush's starts, he's only gone one inning, so fantasy managers shouldn't be looking to him as a streaming option on Saturday.

Matt Bush Back From Injured List
2 years agoThe Milwaukee Brewers reinstated relief pitcher Matt Bush (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list on Friday and optioned right-hander Trevor Megill to Triple-A Nashville on Thursday in a corresponding move. Bush returns to Milwaukee's bullpen after spending almost two months on the shelf with right-shoulder tendinitis. The 37-year-old veteran right-hander wasn't pitching well before his injury, allowing seven runs on six hits (four homers) while walking six and striking out eight in 7 2/3 innings over nine relief appearances. However, he managed to toss five scoreless innings during his minor-league rehab assignment, so perhaps he'll fare better in the big leagues now that he's past his shoulder injury.

Matt Bush Set To Begin A Rehab Assignment On Tuesday
2 years agoMilwaukee Brewers right-handed pitcher Matt Bush (shoulder) will begin a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday. The 37-year-old reliever has been out since late April with right rotator cuff tendinitis. He scuffled to start the season, putting up an 8.22 ERA, 1.57 WHIP, and 8:6 K/BB ratio over 7 2/3 innings of relief. Ideally, he comes back and serves as the setup man for Devin Williams but he has a lot to prove at this point.

Matt Bush Earns First Save Of The Season
2 years agoMilwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Matt Bush recorded his first save of the season, beating the Seattle Mariners 5-3 on Wednesday. Bush pitched 2/3 of an inning, allowing no hits or earned runs to clinch the save. The 37-year-old is 1-for-2 in save opportunities this year. Bush has a 3.68 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and eight strikeouts in 7 1/3 innings this season. Given that Devin Williams is the designated closer, Bush is expected to have limited opportunities to earn saves, likely only being called upon when Williams is unavailable.

Matt Bush Steps In For Second Save Of Season Tuesday
3 years agoMilwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Matt Bush earned his second save of the season and his first with his new team in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Rays. Bush came in to protect a two-run lead and delivered a 1-2-3 inning with two strikeouts. MLB.com's Adam McCalvy reported that Devin Williams needed a day of rest after his heavy workload recently and Taylor Rogers (knee) was unavailable due to a cortisone injection in his knee. Bush has pitched well overall this season with a 3.38 ERA and an 11.03 K/9 rate, but his fantasy value now remains very limited with both Williams and Rogers ahead of him in terms of closing responsibilities.
