Dean Kremer Tosses 5 2/3 Scoreless Innings In Win
Dean Kremer was sharp during Thursday's 4-0 win over the White Sox by allowing zero runs over 5 2/3 IP for his second win of the year. The right-hander allowed seven hits and one walk while striking out four in the 93-pitch effort to give him a 1.71 ERA and 1.24 WHIP through four starts this season. Kremer has had a good run since getting called up at the beginning of June, but his 4.76 xFIP suggests he's had a bit of luck in this small sample. He's also not missing many bats with 14 K through 21 IP, but he remains a player to keep an eye on with an upcoming road matchup versus the Mariners.

Dean Kremer To Return From Injured List And Start Wednesday
Dean Kremer (triceps) will return from the 15-day injured list to start on Wednesday against the Seattle Mariners. Right-hander Corbin Burnes will make his next start on Thursday after missing the team's series over the weekend while on the paternity list. Kremer will return to the rotation in Baltimore after missing the last six weeks with a triceps injury, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that we wouldn't recommend him as a streamer this week in his first start back against Seattle. The 28-year-old also didn't look very good in three minor-league rehab starts for Triple-A Norfolk, pitching to an 11.42 ERA with four home runs allowed and nine strikeouts in 8 2/3 innings pitched. Kremer had been up and down in nine starts before going on the IL this year with a 3-4 record, 4.32 ERA and 1.12 WHIP with a 49:18 K:BB in 50 innings.

Dean Kremer May Need Another Rehab Start
Dean Kremer (triceps) not making it past the first inning in his minor-league rehab start for Triple-A Norfolk on Saturday was "not ideal." The low pitch count may require Kremer to make another rehab start before he's activated from the injured list and returns to Baltimore's starting rotation. The 28-year-old went 3 2/3 innings in his first rehab start but didn't get out of the first frame on Saturday while throwing 39 pitches. His short outing over the weekend means he probably is going to need another rehab assignment and won't make his return to the O's rotation until early July. When healthy, Kremer can be an effective deep-league streamer. He's currently 3-4 with a 4.32 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and a 49:18 K:BB in 50 innings and nine starts. Kremer's 23.7% strikeout rate is his highest since his rookie year in 2020.

Dean Kremer To Make Rehab Start On Sunday
Dean Kremer (triceps) will start his minor-league rehab assignment and make a start for the Triple-A Norfolk Tides on Sunday. Manager Brandon Hyde said Kremer would go "four-ish" innings in his first rehab appearance. Kremer landed on the 15-day injured list due to a right-triceps strain three weeks ago but is now nearing a return to Baltimore's starting rotation. Depending on how he looks in his rehab outing on Sunday, the 28-year-old could take his next turn on the mound back in the big leagues with a potential tough matchup on tap next weekend in Houston against the Astros. Kremer lost two straight games before landing on the IL while giving up 11 runs (eight earned) on 10 hits (two homers) while walking seven and fanning 12, so he won't exactly come recommended as a streamer if he faces the Astros in his first game back next weekend.

Dean Kremer Throws Bullpen Session Thursday
Dean Kremer (triceps) threw a bullpen session on Thursday morning that "went well," according to manager Brandon Hyde. However, no decision has been made on when and where Kremer's minor-league rehab outing will be. It's likely that the 28-year-old will be sent to one of the team's minor-league affiliates for his first rehab start this weekend. Kremer is recovering from a right-triceps strain and may only need a start or two in the minors before the O's feel comfortable reinstating him from the injured list. He has been on the shelf since May 24. Kremer should have a rotation spot waiting for him when he's ready. Before getting hurt, Kremer went 3-4 this year with a 4.32 ERA (4.87 FIP) and 1.12 WHIP with 49 strikeouts and 18 walks in 50 innings over nine starts. His 23.7% strikeout rate is his highest mark since his rookie year in 2020.
