Gerrit Cole Tosses Six Shutout Innings Against Rays
2 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Gerrit Cole was sharp in his start against the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday. He pitched six scoreless innings, allowing five hits and one walk while striking out seven. He earned the win to improve to 6-1 on the year. This was a nice bounce-back start for Cole as he had been absolutely shelled by the Minnesota Twins in his previous outing. The Twins touched him up for five home runs and a total of seven earned runs last Thursday. Cole has a 3.33 ERA on the year that's supported by a 3.03 xERA. He ranks fourth amongst qualified pitchers with both his 33.8% CSW and his 16.9% SwStr%. His next start will be on Sunday against the Toronto Blue Jays.
