Matt Strahm Picks Up Third Save Wednesday
3 years agoBoston Red Sox relief pitcher Matt Strahm picked up his third save of the season on Wednesday against the Los Angeles Angels, striking out one in two-thirds of an inning. John Schreiber opened the ninth inning for Boston, but they turned to Strahm after he picked up his second save of the year on Tuesday. Meanwhile, skipper Alex Cora confirmed that reliever Tanner Houck will be used in one- and two-inning situations, similar to how they used Garrett Whitlock last season. Boston's closing situation is still very unclear, but Strahm now has now locked down back-to-back save chances and appears to be emerging as the favorite for ninth-inning duties alongside Houck, Schreiber and Jake Diekman.
