Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Alek Manoah will be the starter on Tuesday night as the Blue Jays continue their series in Kansas City against the Royals. A matchup against the Royals should be a favorable matchup for Manoah, who despite being one of the best starting pitchers in baseball, is susceptible to giving up home runs on his fastball. So far this season, the Royals are 28th in the MLB in home runs (34) and 28th in the league in slugging percentage (.356). Only the Oakland Athletics and the Detroit Tigers have been worse at hitting for power through the first two months.--JasonHirsch

According to Mike Wilner of the Toronto Star, Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Alek Manoah (elbow) hopes to return to the mound in August. The 26-year-old underwent a modified internal-brace procedure in his right elbow last June. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status throughout the first half of the campaign, as Manoah will likely begin facing live hitters sometime in June and embark on a rehab assignment in July. Last season across a small 24 1/3-inning stint with Toronto, Manoah held a 3.70 ERA and a 1.03 WHIP. While he struggled during the 2023 season and posted a career-worst 5.87 ERA and a 1.74 WHIP, he held a strong 2.24 ERA and a 0.99 WHIP during the 2022 campaign. If Manoah can return to the mound and not face any setbacks during his recovery process, he could be a valuable fantasy asset during the second half of the 2025 campaign.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

The Toronto Blue Jays moved right-hander Alek Manoah (elbow) to the 60-day injured list on Monday to make room on the 40-man roster for left-hander Easton Lucas, who they claimed off waivers from the Detroit Tigers. Lucas has been optioned to Triple-A Buffalo. Manoah had already been ruled out for the rest of the 2024 season after having an internal-brace procedure on his right elbow after he was diagnosed with a sprained UCL in June. Not only will the 26-year-old miss the rest of this year, but he's unlikely to be an option for Toronto's starting rotation again until around midseason in 2025. The former 11th overall pick in 2019 out of West Virginia finished third in the American League Cy Young voting in 2022 before completely falling apart in 2023 and being optioned to the minors. He was only able to make five starts in 2024 before his elbow injury, allowing 16 runs (10 earned) on 17 hits (five homers) while walking eight and fanning 26 in 24 1/3 innings.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Alek Manoah (elbow) revealed on his X account on Monday that had the brace removed from his surgically repaired right elbow. After a disastrous 2023 season, Manoah made five starts for the Blue Jays this year before undergoing an internal-brace procedure on his right elbow six weeks ago. The 26-year-old is out for the remainder of the 2024 campaign and will most likely miss most of next year as well, although his internal-brace procedure should allow him to recover faster than if he had traditional Tommy John reconstruction. An All-Star for the first time in 2022, Manoah has completely fallen off the fantasy radar despite posting a decent 3.70 ERA and 1.03 WHIP with 26 strikeouts and eight walks in 24 1/3 innings this year.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Alek Manoah (elbow) will undergo season ending UCL surgery on June 17th, according to manager John Schneider. The exact surgery he will have has yet to be determined, but the right-hander's 2024 season is over. Manoah had battled his way back from shoulder issues this season and was able to start in five games and post a 3.70 ERA before being removed from his start against the Chicago White Sox in the second inning. As of now the Blue Jays do not have plans to call up another pitcher to replace Manoah. Toronto started Trevor Richards in a bullpen game on June 4th in what would have been Manoah's start had he not gotten injured. Sunday would be his next start and Toronto currently has not named a starter yet. Fantasy managers should sit tight if they're looking for a Blue Jays starter to replace Manoah's spot in the rotation. Rookie Yariel Rodriguez may replace him, but he will have another rehab start on Tuesday so his next likely chance to join the Blue Jays wouldn't be until around 6/14 for Toronto's series against the Cleveland Guardians.--Kevin Larson - RotoBaller
