Willie Calhoun Designated For Assignment
3 years agoThe Texas Rangers designated outfielder Willie Calhoun for assignment on Sunday in order to make room for outfield prospect Steele Walker on the active roster. Calhoun's time with the Rangers may finally be coming to an end soon after he expressed a desire to be traded after he was optioned to the minor leagues a month ago. The 27-year-old displayed flashes of his talent in Texas in the last six years, but injuries always seemed to keep him from reaching his true potential. A change of scenery could help turn things around. Calhoun hit just .136/.283/.273 with a homer and two RBI in 18 games this year before being optioned, and he has a career slash line of .241/.300/.407 with 32 home runs and 103 RBI in his six years with the Rangers.
