3 years agoThe San Francisco Giants placed outfielder Darin Ruf on the bereavement list on Tuesday. He has travelled to Nebraska to be with his family following the passing of his father. Giants manager Gabe Kapler stated that the team wants Ruf to take all the time he needs before he returns to the team (a player can remain on the bereavement list for up to seven days). To fill Ruf's roster spot, the Giants called up fellow outfielder Heliot Ramos. Ramos will be batting seventh and playing right field in Tuesday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies. He's an intriguing prospect, but he likely won't be with the team very long. He was called up for his MLB debut earlier this year in mid-April, but lasted just four days before being sent back to Triple-A.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
