J.T. Realmuto Hitting .169/.246/.271 In May
3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto has been slumping at the plate so far in May. Over 16 appearances this month, he is slashing .169/.246/.271 with just three extra-base hits: a home run, a double and a triple. The 31-year-old veteran currently has an average exit velocity of 86.3 mph, which is down significantly from what we're used to seeing from him. He was right around 90 mph in each of the last three years and his career average is 89 mph. Meanwhile, his hard-hit rate is down from 44.7% last year to 35.1% this year. Very few catchers across the league are providing much value for fantasy managers thus far, so we encourage patience with Realmuto, who has been a mainstay atop the catcher rankings for several years.
