Oakland Athletics pitcher Daulton Jefferies (biceps) is experiencing biceps tightness and undergoing an MRI after Wednesday's start against the Minnesota Twins. He went allowed six runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out five over four innings in Wednesday's 14-4 loss to the Twins. The 26-year-old's availability moving forward is in question, and he's considered day-to-day. Jefferies has struggled this season, owning a 1-7 record with a 5.72 ERA, 137 WHIP, and 28 strikeouts over 39 1/3 innings. Even if Jefferies avoids a significant injury, he can be left on the waiver wire in most league formats.--Brad Camara - RotoBaller

With San Francisco Giants right-hander Keaton Winn (elbow) dealing with elbow soreness in camp, it's possible that pitchers Spencer Howard or Daulton Jefferies could make the club's Opening Day roster as starting rotation options. Howard, 27, and Jefferies, 28, are both in camp this year as non-roster invites for the Giants. Howard hasn't had success so far in 38 big-league outings (29 starts) over four seasons, posting a rough 7.20 ERA and 1.67 WHIP with 55 walks and 109 K's in 115 innings. Jefferies, meanwhile, is attempting to return in 2024 after his second Tommy John surgery. In his three years with the Oakland Athletics, the right-hander went 2-8 with a 5.75 ERA and 1.35 WHIP with 14 walks and 37 K's in 56 1/3 innings over 14 appearances (10 starts). The Giants could be in trouble early on if they're relying on Howard or Jefferies in their rotation.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

San Francisco Giants right-hander Daulton Jefferies (elbow) will not face any restrictions and is a full-go in spring training this season. The 28-year-old was sidelined for the entire 2023 season due to Tommy John surgery and hasn't been on a big-league mound since May 18, 2022, as a member of the Oakland A's. Jefferies' MLB career has been limited to just 14 appearances (10 starts), and he owns a 5.75 ERA and a subpar 15.2% strikeout percentage across 56 1/3 innings in that time. In addition to his Tommy John surgery, Jefferies has also underwent thoracic outlet surgery in the 2022 season, limiting him to just five appearances and 15 innings of work that year. He could serve as a long reliever or as Triple-A starting depth for the Giants in 2024.--Brenton Kemp

The Oakland Athletics outrighted right-hander Daulton Jefferies to Triple-A on Monday. The 27-year-old right-hander made eight starts for the American League West club in 2022, throwing 39.1 innings and logging a 5.72 ERA and a 3.77 FIP. He also chipped in with 28 strikeouts compared to just eight walks allowed. As of now, Oakland's rotation options on the team's 40-man roster include left-handers Cole Irvin, JP Sears, and Ken Waldichuk, as well as right-handers Paul Blackburn, James Kaprielian, and Adam Oller.--Ben Rosener - RotoBaller

Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Daulton Jefferies (elbow) underwent Tommy John surgery on Friday. The 27-year-old hurler had been out since mid-June after having surgery for thoracic outlet syndrome. He also underwent Tommy John surgery back in 2017 so this is his second procedure on his elbow. The team should provide an update on him soon but fantasy managers shouldn't expect to see him back in uniform until midway through next season.--Jon Mathisen - RotoBaller
