Mitch Haniger Could Remain Out Until Mid-July
3 years agoSeattle Mariners outfielder Mitch Haniger (ankle) spoke to reporters about his Grade 2 ankle sprain on Tuesday. He gave some context for his timeline, saying "As far as getting back in games, I think like a rough estimate would be from date of injury is 10 to 12 weeks, but at the same time, I've heard it can go on the earlier end and I've also heard on the longer end." The injury first occurred on April 29. So if he indeed winds up missing a total of 10-to-12 weeks, he won't be back until the middle of July or late July. Fellow outfielder Kyle Lewis (knee) is trending toward making his 2022 debut with the team soon and he'll benefit from Haniger's absence as he'll slot in as one of the team's primary outfield/designated hitter options alongside Jarred Kelenic, Julio Rodriguez and Jesse Winker.
