Miami Marlins second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. got his first start out of the leadoff spot on Thursday, and he didn't disappoint his manager by homering to help his club defeat the Cardinals 5-0. His third long ball of the season came off of Aaron Brooks in the seventh inning for a two-run shot as he finished the night going 1-for-4. Chisholm is off to a nice start to the season slashing .290/.333/.774 with six runs, 12 RBI, and a stolen base out of the bottom-third of the order. Jorge Soler has received the nearly all the at-bats as the team's leadoff hitter so far in 2022, but since he's slashing just .143/.250/.238 through 48 plate appearances, the job could transfer hands. Chisholm was in the coveted role for 64 games a year ago, so it's something to monitor moving forward as a promotion to the top of the lineup would undoubtedly boost his fantasy production.--Riley Mrack - RotoBaller

New York Yankees infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. (oblique) is dealing with a high-grade right-oblique strain, according to manager Aaron Boone. "I think it's gonna be a while," Boone said. With Chisholm on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to April 30), Boone said that infield prospect Jorbit Vivas is going to get an opportunity to play. Vivas is starting at second base and batting ninth in Friday's series opener against the division-rival Tampa Bay Rays and right-hander Ryan Pepiot. The 27-year-old Chisholm is expected to be out for four to six weeks, so fantasy managers are going to need to be patient as they await his return. It's a tough break for Chisholm, who has hit just .181 (19-for-105), although he has provided seven home runs, 17 RBI, 17 runs scored and six stolen bases. Vivas is certainly worth a look in deep-mixed and AL-only leagues with Chisholm out for an extended period of time. UPDATE: Chisholm is estimated to be out for four to six weeks while dealing with three separate tears in his oblique, but he's still hoping to beat the initial timetable.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

New York Yankees utility man Jazz Chisholm Jr. landed on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to April 30) with a right oblique strain. The Yankees recalled infielder Jorbit Vivas from Triple-A Scranton-Wilkes-Barre in a corresponding move. Chisholm exited Tuesday's contest against the Baltimore Orioles with discomfort in his right oblique and proceeded to rest on Wednesday, with the Yankees having an off day on Thursday. Although Chisholm has downplayed the injury since leaving Tuesday's game, it turns out that he will need some additional time to heal. Chisholm is struggling to maintain consistency at the plate in 2025, slashing .181/.304/.410 with seven home runs, 17 runs scored, and 17 RBI. In his absence on Tuesday, Pablo Reyes filled in at second base for the Yankees. It is possible that Oswaldo Cabrera or Oswald Peraza could fill in at second base for the Yankees in the short term as well.--Nicho Roessler - RotoBaller

New York Yankees infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. (oblique) is not in the team's starting lineup on Wednesday at Camden Yards against the division-rival Baltimore Orioles. Pablo Reyes is starting at the keystone and is hitting seventh against Orioles left-hander Cade Povich. Chisholm is dealing with a right-oblique injury and will undergo testing during the team's off day on Thursday. Manager Aaron Boone believes that it could be an injured-list situation, so fantasy managers should prepare for that possibility. The Yankees will start a new series in the Bronx on Friday against the division-rival Tampa Bay Rays. If Chisholm misses extended time with a tricky injury, Reyes should take over most of the playing time at second base for the Yanks. The 27-year-old Chisholm has been all or nothing in 2025, hitting just .181 (19-for-105) but with seven homers, 17 RBI, 17 runs and six stolen bases. UPDATE: Chisholm said he was feeling good on Wednesday, but Boone said he still has some soreness in his oblique. An MRI exam in New York on Thursday will determine the team's next steps.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

New York Yankees infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. (oblique) will have testing on his right oblique during the team's off day on Thursday. Manager Aaron Boone said there is some concern it could be an injured-list situation, although Chisholm told him that he feels "fine." Although the Yankees' lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the division-rival Baltimore Orioles hasn't been posted, fantasy managers should be expecting the 27-year-old to sit out. Depending on what testing reveals on Thursday, Chisholm could also be absent this weekend in the Bronx against the division-rival Tampa Bay Rays. Although he's hitting just .181 (19-for-105) on the year, Chisholm does have seven home runs and six stolen bases and should be stashed in an IL spot if he lands on the shelf. If Chisholm ends up missing extended time with this injury, Pablo Reyes figures to be the primary beneficiary at the keystone.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
