3 years agoSeattle Mariners starting pitcher Logan Gilbert notched his first quality start of the year on Wednesday. Facing the Texas Rangers, he pitched 6 2/3 innings and allowed six hits, no walks and no runs while striking out four. The 24-year-old earned the win to improve to 2-0 on the year. Gilbert is off to a fantastic start to the 2022 season. He's made three starts and has allowed just one earned run over 16.2 innings. He's seen a solid increase in velocity for his second-most thrown pitch, his slider. Last year, the pitch had an average velocity of 83.4 mph. This year, it's up to 86.1 mph. He'll look to keep rolling in his next start, which will be on Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Rays.
