Gleyber Torres Out Of The Lineup On Tuesday
3 years agoNew York Yankees second baseman/shortstop Gleyber Torres is absent from the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Detroit Tigers. DJ LeMahieu will be covering second base for the game. Torres is off to a slow start to the year, slashing just .161/.229/.323 over 10 games. He went a combined 0-for-13 over his last four outings. Yankees manager Aaron Boone has giving each of the team's primary hitters regular days off to begin the year, but Torres may need to start hitting soon in order to retain a regular starting role. Isiah Kiner-Falefa is the team's everyday shortstop and LeMahieu, who has hit much better than Torres thus far, could wind up as the everyday second baseman. Thus far in 2022, LeMahieu has been used throughout the infield while various players have earned days off.
