MLB Pitcher Prop Bets - Today's Picks
Tylor Megill OVER 5.5 strikeouts (-130 DraftKings Sportsbook)
Megill has burst onto the scene in 2022 and now has 11 strikeouts through his first 10 1/3 innings pitched. He gets a solid matchup in this one against the Giants who are posting a K rate of 23.9% vs. right-handed pitching to start the season, which is ranked 11th-worst in baseball. They were posting a much higher rate before this weekend before facing Aaron Civale and Cal Quantrill who don't exactly light the world on fire with their strikeout upside.
Sean Manaea OVER 5.5 strikeouts (+125 Caesars Sportsbook)
I am going to get a little aggressive here with Manaea as he has 13 strikeouts through his first 13 innings pitched and managed to strike out seven Diamondbacks in his first start, a team that is typically strong against left-handers. The Reds are not that team as they have posted a 28.7% K rate vs. lefties across their first 136 plate appearances. They are also posting an abysmal wRC+ of just 48, which is ranked fourth-worst in the league.
Clayton Kershaw UNDER 7.5 strikeouts (-130 DraftKings Sportsbook)
Kershaw had a tremendous first start in which he threw seven perfect innings while striking out 13. That being said, a repeat performance against this Braves lineup does not seem likely. The Braves are posting the eighth-best K rate against left-handers to begin the season with a rate of just 19.3%. They are also posting a wRC+ mark of 110, which is very solid and ranks them in the top half of MLB.
MLB Hitter Prop Bets - Today's Picks
Pete Alonso OVER 1.5 total bases (+130 DraftKings Sportsbook)
Alonso has not lit the world on fire yet this season, but he does have two long balls of right-handed pitchers. Alex Cobb has always struggled against right-handed hitters in the past and posted a 4.85 FIP against them as recently as 2020. The Mets also have an implied total north of four today, so Alonso could certainly be involved here.
Matt Olson OVER .5 total bases (-170 DraftKings Sportsbook)
I would like to find this prop at 1.5 total bases if available, but as of this writing, he is listed at .5. Olsen has been on a tear to start 2022 and is now posting a .676 SLG with two dingers. He will be facing Clayton Kershaw in this one, but that is not as bad as you might think seeing as Olson has tremendous splits as he posted a .605 SLG against lefties in 2021 and has posted a 1.012 OPS against them to begin 2022.
