Brandon Nimmo Leading Off Against Nationals On Friday
3 years agoNew York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (neck) is set to lead off and play center field in the team's second game of the season against the Washington Nationals on Friday. Nimmo was held out of action on Thursday as he was dealing with a stiff neck. Mark Canha started in center field on Thursday and J.D. Davis served as designated hitter. Davis is sitting for Friday's game while Canha is shifting to left field. Nimmo is one of the best contact hitters on the Mets. Last year, he slashed .292/.401/.437 over 92 games. He'll be the team's primary leadoff hitter this year, though he may occasionally sit against lefties, who he has struggled against over his career.
