Max Scherzer Gets The Green Light To Start Friday
3 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Max Scherzer (hamstring) is officially set to start the team's second game of the year against the Washington Nationals on Friday. The three-time Cy Young winner has been dealing with right hamstring tightness lately. However, according to Scherzer himself, he was able to pass all of the team's tests ahead of Friday's start. Friday will be the Mets debut for the 37-year-old, who pitched for the Nationals from 2015 up until last year's trade deadline. He was dominant on the mound last year with a 2.46 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 34.1% strikeout rate.
