Anthony Volpe To Begin Year At Double-A
3 years agoNew York Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe has been sent to Double-A to begin the 2022 season. The 20-year-old is ranked as the team's No. 1 overall prospect on MLB.com's prospect rankings and as the No. 8 overall prospect in the majors. He split the 2021 season at Single-A and High-A and slashed .294/.423/.604 with 27 home runs, 33 stolen bases, 86 RBI and 113 runs over 109 games. We are probably still at least a year or so away from seeing Volpe in the majors, but he's certainly a key prospect to keep an eye on. With Bobby Witt Jr., Julio Rodriguez and Spencer Torkelson now in the majors, Volpe has a chance to wind up as the top overall prospect in the majors come next spring.
