The PGA RotoBaller staff digs into their One and Done selections for the Masters. Here are some under-the-radar plays and picks for this week's event.

One and Done Selections - Masters
Joe Nicely - Brooks Koepka

I could make a strong case for lots of players this week, but I’ll keep this brief, as I’m sure most of you have already reached your Masters content limit.
While OAD contests undoubtedly require some planning and strategy, the major championships seem to come down to choices from the heart for me. This week, Big Brooks Koepka is calling my name. He’s a few years gone from winning majors at a ridiculous clip, but I have no doubt there are more to come. Koepka closed out 2021 by posting top-six finishes in each of the year’s last three major championships. I look for the “Big Game Hunter” to pick up where he left off at Augusta National this week and add a green jacket to his already-impressive trophy case.

Spencer Aguiar - Rory McIlroy

I was not planning to do this before I started handicapping the board further, but I made two massive changes to my model that moved the needle in Rory McIlroy's favor.
For starters, McIlroy enters the week as an afterthought in the outright market, which is extremely promising since his quest for the career grand slam has often derailed his chances to find success at Augusta, but perhaps more importantly than that, I think the conditions will be softer because of the rain. Rory’s most significant issue is when scores don’t creep into double-digits - evident by him never winning a title at less than 12-under par, and I think the combination of his high ball flight and the more conducive surfaces early in the week will come into play for a golfer that ranks third in this field for weighted tee-to-green and first in a course-specific breakdown of my model.
I am going to say that McIlroy finally gets the monkey off of his back, and the nearly eight-year hiatus from making the winner's circle in a grand slam also falls to the side.

Matt Miller - Brooks Koepka

It's major season and it's time to unleash the big dogs! Since 2019 Brooks has finished outside the top 10 just twice in his 10 major appearances. Six of the eight top 10 finishes have been inside the top five. It seems like he was put on this earth to show up at majors. The second-place finish at Augusta in 2019 still stings, he's mentioned it several times in interviews and I think he's as hungry as ever entering this week.
In contrast to some other recent major appearances, Brooks is actually coming in with his form. We saw him play well in the Del Match Play as well as a pair of top-20 finishes at the Valsapr and Honda over the past month. I'm not going to overthink this one. It's Brooks time.

I’m doing it. I’m trusting what he says and what we have seen in limited video action since he first got back onto the course. I’m not a doctor and will not fall into the trap of thinking that just because he had a bad injury means that he couldn’t possibly have healed up enough to contend at the Masters. You and I couldn’t possibly fathom this because we sit on the couch eating Cheetos and drinking Michelob Ultras and it would take us 5 years to probably even walk again, but he’s got all the money and resources in the world to aid his recovery and if he says he’s recovered enough to win this tournament then my only choice is to believe that. I’m also trusting what other players are saying about his playing abilities. His buddy Fred Couples even said he is hitting the ball exactly like he was when he won in 2019. Lock it in for me. All signs are pointing to another run at a green jacket and I can’t wait to see it.

When it comes to The Masters, we all know it favors the long hitters, or the guys that play the par 5s good win, or maybe it’s around the greens that matter the most. All of these statistics are very important when narrowing down who you’re going to play and who you’re going to fade. However, the most important stat of all has to be…”Course History.” John Rahm has 4 straight…I’ll say it again for the people in the back…4 straight top 10s at Augusta. Case closed!!!! John Rahm is my pick.
