3 years agoThe New York Mets have officially named Tylor Megill the team's Opening Day starting pitcher. He will take the mound on Thursday against the Washington Nationals. He'll be followed by Max Scherzer (hamstring) on Friday, then Chris Bassitt on Saturday. Megill had his first exposure to the majors last year. He made 18 starts and went 4-6 with a 4.52 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP. He had some concerning underlying stats last year, including a 10% barrel rate that ranked in the bottom 14% of the league and a 25% chase rate that ranked in the bottom 18% of the league. Luckily, he has a relatively favorable matchup against the Nationals to kick off the 2022 campaign.
