Kevin Gausman To Start Second Game Of Season
3 years agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman will start the team's second game of the season at home against the Rangers, per MLB.com's Keegan Matheson. Gausman signed a five-year, $110 million contract with the Jays this off-season, but Jose Berrios will get the Opening Day nod. The 31-year-old had a stellar 2021 season, going 14-6 with a 2.81 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, and 29.3% strikeout rate over 192 innings pitched with the San Francisco Giants. He will move to a debatably tougher division and will leave the pitcher-friendly confines of Oracle Park, but should still serve as a higher-end starter for fantasy managers this season. Gausman is currently being drafted as the 23rd pitcher off the board, making him a high-end SP 2.
