Bruce Arians Transitions To Front Office, Todd Bowles New HC
3 years agoTampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians is transitioning to the front office as a senior football consultant. Defensive Coordinator Todd Bowles has been named Tampa Bay's new head coach. The 69-year-old was rumored to retire after last season but returned to coach in 2022. "When Bruce arrived in Tampa Bay three years ago, he spoke about establishing a winning culture and adding another Super Bowl championship for our community," said owner Joel Glazer. "He delivered on both of those promises, and our family is deeply appreciative for all that he has accomplished during his time as our head coach. As impressive as his coaching accomplishments have been, his legacy will live on through the doors of opportunity that he has opened for minority coaches and women in football. We support Bruce's decision to transition from the sidelines and look forward to continuing to lean on his vast football knowledge and experience well into the future. On behalf of all Buccaneers fans, I would like to thank Bruce for all that he has done for this franchise and our community." The timing of Arians retiring as the team's head coach is odd, considering the GOAT Tom Brady is returning for the 2022 season. Arians will finish with a career 89-59-1 record, a Super Bowl and two Coach of the Year Awards. Arians handpicked Bowles to be Tampa Bay's new head coach. With Brady returning, Arians made sure Bowles will coach a good team in 2022. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Tampa Bay is doing away with Bowles' defensive coordinator contract and rewarded him with a five-year head-coaching contract.
