Pete Fairbanks Could Face Extended Absence
3 years agoTampa Bay Rays relief pitcher Pete Fairbanks (back) suffered a lat muscle injury during Sunday's Spring Training outing. He underwent an MRI on Monday and following the results of the MRI, it was recommended that he be shut down for six weeks. While the team is planning on seeking additional opinions, it seems highly likely that Fairbanks will miss at least a few months of the regular season. The right-hander appeared in 47 games for the Rays last year. He tallied 14 holds and five saves while pitching to a 3.59 ERA and a 1.43 WHIP.
