ANALYSIS: Brandon Clarke's minutes have gone down a bit in the past two games, but there should be nothing to worry about regarding that as he's one of the NBA's true super-subs and he should stay on that path. Memphis is currently seeded second in the West half a game above Golden State. The Warriors, by the way, just lost Stephen Curry ROS so there is a very serious chance the Grizzlies hold onto that no. 2 spot. And Clarke might prove key for them to achieve that feat.
Clarke's played eight games this month and only twice has he put up below league-average efficiency per-minute numbers. Even counting those, Clarke's still averaging 1.19 FP/min off the bench (league average at 0.90) with an average line nearly reading 10-6-1-1-2 in just 21 MPG. I mean, pro-rate that line to a per-36, starter-minutes, basis and you get all the way up to an exceptionally rounded-up 17-10-2-2-3 average outcome. Jesus Christ.
Of course, that's assuming a lot of things and also dreaming about something that isn't even remotely close to happening for Clarke because 1) Memphis doesn't need to make huge changes and 2) Clarke is still developing and just a rotational player for now. That said, the shooting is great at 69% this month and 65% this season while Clarke is a season-long 5-rebound, 1-block, 1-assist player, something only other 28 players in the league are doing--of course, none of them in fewer than 20 MPG except Clarke with a season 19 MPG mark.
