Phillies To Have Competition For Center Field
3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies manager Joe Girardi told reporters on Wednesday that the team may go with an everyday center fielder this year. However, it's still unclear who that will be. Girardi stated that it was a competition and brought up three potential names in the running: Odubel Herrera, Matt Vierling and Adam Haseley. Girardi said, "Odúbel played pretty well for us. Vierling played pretty well for us last year. Those are the guys that are the lead candidates. But Haseley has the chance to re-establish himself as well." No one from that trio is particularly interesting for fantasy purposes, but if the team did wind up going with someone in an everyday role, that player could have value in NL-only leagues and extra deep leagues.
