Welcome to the Friday, August 9th edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.
Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.
In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on August 9th. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings
- White Hot! Aristides Aquino w/118.3mph exit velo on 445ft HR(3). Damn, that's fast. Leads MLB w/17.6Brls/PA (min. of 10BBE).
- One of the biggest values in 2020 drafts: Francisco Lindor at pick six (or later). Mark me down as a buyer. Missed time will keep numbers "low". 20HR, 18SB, .301AVG
- Giovanny Urshela hits repeat. Two days in a row. 3-for-5 w/3R, 2HR, 4RBI.
- It's a two-person party as Domingo German enters the doors w/15 wins. 4.05ERA(4.59FIP). Another easy matchup vs BAL next; his year has been littered with them.
- Mike Tauchman w/the hot potato. 4HR, 13RBI, 3SB, .417AVG in last week.
- Hit Streak Counter: 11. Bo Bichette w/441 Bazooka Joe bubble shot(four). Ninth double.
- Top-three choice in 2020 drafts: Ronald Acuna w/30HR, 26SB, .295AVG & counting. 40/40-club bouncer, you might want to help 35/35-club guy if you want to slow Acuna down.
- Players are streaky & fireworks dissipate quickly. Adam Duvall w/0HR, .111AVG in last week.
- Wow, everyone is beating up on Marlins, but not you. How you go and let them whoop you to the tune of 8ER in 3.2IP? Ah, you are Dallas Keuchel. Crazy that people waited all year for this.
- Brian Anderson w/20HR, 5SB, .252AVG is solid production for deep leagues. Only 20% owned.
- Jon Berti w/three hits, no SB. We want the speed.
- NASTY!! Chris Sale w/8IP, 0ER, 13K. Indians might not be as accommodating next.
- Does Nicholas Castellanos like the Cubbies? Six 2B, 3HR, .424AVG since the move.
- Kevin Gausman just as good(bad) in the bullpen. Still 24% owned? Stop the madness.
- Ian Happ gets third HR. Great OBP(.444), but 34%Chase & 16.6%SwingStrike rates are lacking.
- Hunter Dozier smacks two(20). .284AVG. Quiet breakout season.
- Travis Demeritte w/first big-league jog around bases. Two SB are nice. .222 makes people want to avoid eye contact.
- Matthew Boyd infatuation has its troubles. 2.2IP, 5ER, 3BB might fall in that category.
- Cheslor Cuthbert coming out of the shadows w/446ft attention-getter(8). .293AVG. He's been around a long time. Only 26 years old.
- Father of Time couldn't do it himself. He hired the Cousin of Calamity. Nelson Cruz w/wrist strain.
- Leave it to Clever. No? Not a thing? Well, Mike Clevinger owned the Twins. 7IP, 2ER, 9K.
- Luis Arraez w/two more hits. .353AVG. Needs all the playing time. Stabilizing force in deep leagues.
- Jose Ramirez bandwagon welcomes more. 11HR, 5SB, .327AVG since July 1st.
- Yasiel Puig w/pre-pitch sword spin is classic. (if I knew how to make a meme, it would be done)
- Really? Hyun-Jin Ryu is coming back on Sunday? You know my lineup is locked, right? Let's wait until Monday.
- Fernando Tatis Jr. went for the combo but got caught. Be happy with juicy Homer-Burger(22). (if I could make a meme, that would be done too).
- Trevor Story revalidates 25/15-club card.
- Manny Machado still runs(four SB)? I thought billions was for just hitting and that speed was extra.
- I only partly apologize for not drafting you in more leagues Charlie Blackmon. Figured age would slow you down. Well, that part is true (two SB), but the 24HR would be nice.
- Have a great Friday. Have fun finishing the week.
- No Fear, Just Fantasy.
