This week's outfield waiver wire list focuses on the need for speed. Here are five outfield sleepers that steal bases and score runs. I believe these players are undervalued and worth picking up off the waiver wire, if they are still available in your league, including NL-Only and AL-Only formats. At the very least, these fantasy baseball outfielders should be watched closely over the next few weeks.
Dexter Fowler - (OF, HOU) - 70% Owned
BALLER MOVE: Add in All Formats
Dexter Fowler owns a .389 OBP in his first season in Houston. The Astros' leadoff man has been hot as of late, racking up 24 H, 13 R, 2 HR and 7 RBI over his last 15 games.Dexter is hitting .286 on the season with 42 R, 5 HR, 23 RBI and 6 SB. The speedy veteran is a very productive outfielder and is worth owning in all fantasy league formats.
Brock Holt - (OF / 1B / 3B, BOS) - 42% Owned
BALLER MOVE: Add in All Formats
Despite playing five different positions this year for the Red Sox, Brock Holt has been consistently contributing offensively. Holt has eight multi-hit games in the month of June and is now batting .329 with 51 H, 21 R, 1 HR, 15 RBI and 5 SB in 38 games. Holt's versatility and speed make him worth owning in all league formats.
Jake Marisnick - (OF, MIA) - 2% Owned
BALLER MOVE: Continue Scouting, Add in NL-Only Leagues
In an extremely small sample size, Jake Marisnick has been impressive since his call up. The young Marlins outfielder went 4-for-10 with two runs and two stolen bases in a three-game series against the Cubs this week, and should be in for some steady playing time with teammate Christian Yelich on the shelf. Marisnick stole 17 bases and hit six home runs at Triple-A New Orleans prior to being recalled to Miami and is definitely a player to watch over the next few weeks.
Eric Young - (OF, NYM) - 15% Owned
BALLER MOVE: Add in Deeper Leagues, NL-Only Leagues
Eric Young has hit safely in each of the three games he has played in since returning from the disabled list. Young has 17 stolen bases on the season and remains one of the best base stealers in the National League. With Juan Lagares hurt, Eric should be in the lineup everyday going forward. Young stole 46 bases in 2013 and could get close to that number again this season if he stays healthy.
For fantasy owners looking for help swiping bags, E.Y. is a great option and should be snagged off the waiver wire if he's still available in your league.
James Jones - (OF, SEA) - 5% Owned
BALLER MOVE: Add in Deeper Leagues, AL-Only Leagues
With four stolen bases over his last three games, James Jones is emerging as an interesting fantasy option in AL-Only and other deep league formats. The Mariner's rookie outfielder is slashing .291 with 23 R, 6 RBI and 11 SB. Keep an eye on him over the next few weeks. If Jones' recent string of stolen bases continues, his fantasy value will continue to rise.
