Some Outfielders Who Are Streaking Along
Hitting streaks are the theme of this week's list. Four of the five fantasy players below have been reaching base consistently during recent play and can be considered sleeper waiver wire pickups if they're still available in you league. Fantasy owners in need of outfield production should consider adding these streaking players off of the waiver wire.
Alejandro De Aza - (OF, CWS) - 23% Owned
BALLER MOVE: Add in Deeper Leagues
The low batting average may be a deterrent for many fantasy owners, but Alejandro De Aza still has decent value. His batting average has been on the rise since June 1st, which is largely due to his current six-game hitting streak.
De Aza will continue to start in left field on most nights and inject speed and power into the Sox lineup. As long as he remains hot, De Aza is worth adding in deeper league formats.
Danny Santana - (OF / SS / 2B, MIN) - 51% Owned
BALLER MOVE: Add in All Formats
Danny Santana has played his way into a full-time role atop the Minnesota Twins' batting order. The 23 year-old is slashing .372 with 12 R, 2 HR, 12 RBI and 4 SB in 25 games this season. Santana has collected eight RBI over his current seven-game hitting streak and will continue to see regular at-bats going forward. Santana is owned in about half of all fantasy baseball leagues and is worth adding in all formats until he cools down.
Oscar Taveras - (OF, STL) - 81% Owned
BALLER MOVE: Continue Scouting
Until recently, Oscar Taveras was owned in just about every fantasy league, as owners everywhere were looking to cash in on the Cardinals' newest star. The young outfielder has started slowly, hitting just .189 over his first 11 career games. However, a similar situation occurred with George Springer earlier this season. Fantasy owners dropped Springer when he did not make the splash that had been expected, yet Springer is now producing at a very high level after just a small adjustment period.
Taveras has all the makings of a successful big league hitter and the results will soon come. For owners with an open spot on the bench, Taveras could end up being a great addition, even though he was sent back down to AAA. He should be back soon, and can still have a big impact this year.
Austin Jackson - (OF, DET) - 65% Owned
BALLER MOVE: Add in All Formats
Inconsistency has plagued Austin Jackson for most of this season, but the former leadoff hitter seems to have settled into a groove in the lower half of the Tigers batting order. Jackson has the potential to contribute in multiple fantasy categories and should be in great position to drive in more runs while batting behind Miguel Cabrera, Victor Martinez, and Torii Hunter. Jackson owns a six-game hitting streak and is worth adding in all fantasy formats right now.
Adam Eaton - (OF, CWS) - 45% Owned
BALLER MOVE: Add in Deeper Leagues
Another White Sox outfielder with a hitting streak is Adam Eaton. The speedster has hit safely in six straight contests and has now scored 30 R in 47 games played. Eaton is the spark plug that ignites the White Sox offense, and while his stats are not eye-popping - .255, 30 R, 1 HR, 18 RBI, 5 SB - he is a solid all-purpose fantasy asset that can be counted on to score runs consistently. Eaton is worth owning in AL-Only and deeper leagues.
