Welcome to RotoBaller's League of Legends DFS column. We'll continue ramping up our analysis for LoL DFS all week, bringing you the insight you need to succeed. I'm here to help you out by giving you my upset pick from these matchups and highlighting a few players to target from each one.
With the LCS and LEC regular seasons over, we shift back to the LPL (my favorite league) for a 3-match slate. There are no LCK matches combined on this slate to worry about, which is also kind of nice.
Today I'll be bringing League of Legends advice, analysis, and picks, for the slate on DraftKings that locks at 2:00 AM on Monday morning, March 30th, 2020.
Upset Special
3:00 AM: Jingdong Gaming vs. Suning Gaming
Both of these teams are experiencing a mini-slump right now as they face stiffer competition in the league and teams are beginning to figure them out. This matchup will come down to one head to head for me. Sofm vs. Kanavi.
SofM is the savvy veteran of the LPL at this point in his career. Kanavi, the young gun. Sofm's ability to track the enemy jungler is unmatched, and I see that as well as his experience advantage as a big reason for an SNG upset. Looking at the team stats, they are very evenly matched. Angel can match Yagao at MID so long as SNG bans Zoey away.
Huangfeng is suffering a little without the high priority on his Miss Fortune pick and other teams matching SNG bot lane pace. Bin will start tonight in the top lane for SNG. Bin getting the start is another exploitable advantage. He is much more of a carry oriented top-laner than Bui-Bui. To me, it also signals a bit of a strategy shift for SNG.
They focused heavily on the bot side since adding Haungfeng to the roster. Bringing back the top-lane carry player tells me they're going to focus that lane more. That, coupled with the fact I think 705 is a liability for the side of JDG, makes SNG my upset pick of the day.
LGD is the correct play, but v5 has a murderer's row of games upcoming. They face RNG FPX IG SNG, so if they don't win tomorrow, they likely don't for two weeks.
Bin - TOP ($5,600)
As I previously mentioned, the swap to Bin in the top lane is a strength for the side of SNG. I imagine that we see him on Renekton, Aatrox, or possibly a split pusher like Camille or Fiora. Bin is a risky pick. He is GPP-only as if things don't go well in game one or two you could find him subbed out immediately.
SofM - JNG ($6,400)
I mentioned his advantages in vision and experience above. He also leads the team in KP% with 77.8% This guy is everywhere for his team. Pair him with Bin and Haunfeng for a Gpp stack. Punt with him and team to fit more potent options from the earlier games.
Other DFS Targets
Doinb - FPX- MID ($8,000)
I went deep on that last matchup to find some value to fit in everyone's top play of the night. Doinb is the engine that drives FPX. His KP% is an insane 76%. With FPX facing V5 tonight the most FPX is the best FPX. Look to stack him up with Crisp - SUP ($6,000) and Tian - JNG ($7,600).
Those three often team up to influence the map in areas other than the mid lane. FPX are -5000 favorites to win and they should sweep the series 2-0. They are locks for your cash games and also very attractive plays in GPP formats, too.
Flandre - LNG - TOP ($6,000)
LNG and Vici are two similar teams to me. They both want to do the same thing - grind it out and play smart, controlled league of legends games. Unfortunately for Vici gaming, they do not have single anyone advantage as big as the one Flandre will have in the top side of the map.
Tied for the team lead in KP% with 64.5, Flandre is the winning matchup that LNG can build on to take down that series. This is potentially the tightest game on the slate and there's merit to stacking either side, but I really like LNG here in this one.
Summary
- Don't fade FPX (even in GPPs) they are simply in too good of a spot.
- The other two games are really close and could go either way. I like LNG and Suning in those, but there's merit to hedging those spots if you are multi-entering.
- Remember, stacking is encouraged! 4-3 or 3-3-1 stacks are the way to go in all formats!
