The 2024 NFL Draft is just days away, and teams are finalizing their draft boards ahead of Thursday. The Chicago Bears, Washington Commanders, and New England Patriots will round out the top three.
While anything can happen on draft night, it is expected that Chicago, Washington, and New England will all take a quarterback. After that, it's anyone's guess what will happen next. The Arizona Cardinals could take Marvin Harrison Jr. with the fourth selection or trade the pick to a quarterback-needy team.
So, which teams could trade up in the 2024 NFL Draft to take quarterback J.J. McCarthy? Let's dive in and see which teams could trade up to select the fourth-best quarterback prospect in this class.

Minnesota Vikings
There's no doubt that the Minnesota Vikings are in the market for a quarterback. After Kirk Cousins left in free agency and signed a multi-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons, the Vikings now have a massive hole at that position. Despite signing Sam Darnold to a one-year deal this offseason, he doesn't appear to be their long-term answer.

As a result, the Vikings could be looking to move up in the 2024 NFL Draft to select McCarthy. They are also in the best position to do so following their offseason trade to acquire the 23rd overall pick from the Houston Texans. That means they could package the 11th overall pick and the 23rd pick to move into the top five and select the Michigan quarterback.
Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos will actively be looking to find their franchise quarterback in Thursday's draft. Even after trading for Zach Wilson, that position is arguably the team's biggest need heading into the season. As of now, Jarrett Stidham and Wilson are Denver's top two quarterbacks on the roster.

That's why the Broncos could be extremely aggressive in moving up for a quarterback. Reports have also surfaced that head coach Sean Payton is willing to give up future assets to acquire a franchise quarterback in this year's draft. So, they could be a candidate to land McCarthy in the draft.
Las Vegas Raiders
The last team that could trade up for McCarthy in the 2024 NFL Draft is the Las Vegas Raiders. Despite signing Gardner Minshew to a two-year, $25 million deal this offseason, it's apparent that he isn't the Raiders' long-term answer at quarterback. As a result, Las Vegas could move up to get their franchise signal-caller.
The Raiders currently own the 13th overall pick, so they could package that pick with future assets to get McCarthy. It's a move that makes a lot of sense for the team's future.
