After shipping off former All-Pro Stefon Diggs to Houston and losing fellow pass-catcher Gabe Davis to Jacksonville in free agency, the Buffalo Bills suddenly have a gaping hole at wide receiver. Luckily for them, there is plenty of talent available in the upcoming NFL Draft.
Buffalo will have to wait until 28th overall to get its first crack at a replacement. Given all its player departures and the fact it only has two picks in the top 60, a trade-up appears unlikely. However, Buffalo will still have a plethora of options to choose from this year. It never really seemed like picking a player off the wide receiver tree would be a realistic fix to a team’s problem. But man, given the talent available, the 2024 NFL Draft might actually be as easy as plucking a pass-catcher off the wide receiver tree.

WR Xavier Worthy, Texas
Interestingly enough, FanDuel Sportsbook lists Buffalo as the current odds-on favorite to draft Worthy. It’s an intriguing landing spot. His speed and ability to blow the top off defenses would make for a fun pairing with Josh Allen.
According to Xavier Worthy himself, the Texas WR was in Buffalo for an official visit with the team!

While his game-changing speed is tantalizing, Worthy still has some things to clean up with his route running. He’s a talented player but is more of a project compared to others who will be available in Round 1. 28th overall feels like it would be a little too high to take a shot on the speedster. Round 2 feels like the sweet spot, but Worthy might not be available at 60th overall.
WR Ricky Pearsall, Florida
Pearsall was one of the more underrated receiving prospects coming into draft season, but he is gaining steam the closer we get to the draft. The youngster is one of the better route runs in this class.

He also possesses the ability to play both inside and outside. This could make Buffalo an ideal landing spot.
Stefon Diggs lined up all over the field for Buffalo. Per Fantasy Points Data Suite, Diggs had a 65-35 split running routes from outside and the slot. Buffalo might be looking for a similar player to fill that role. Outside of the top-three prospects, Pearsall is arguably the next best receiver suited for this type of deployment. He is a talented player and is a decent bet to sneak into Round 1 and be selected by the Bills.
WR Adonai Mitchell, Texas
Mitchell profiles more as a traditional X receiver and wouldn’t provide the same type of positional flexibility as Diggs from a deployment standpoint. Mitchell is more likely to fill the Gabe Davis role in Buffalo’s offense. No, this doesn’t mean he is a Davis clone. Mitchell is a more talented player. We can expect more success from him in the X-receiver role as he has the prerequisite skill set to win the type of routes that come with playing outside and on the line of scrimmage.
Mitchell is a big, fast, and talented prospect. He’d be a welcome addition to Buffalo’s receiving room.
