The 2024 NFL Draft is just a couple of weeks away, and teams are likely finalizing their draft board. The Chicago Bears currently own the first overall pick with the Washington Commanders and New England Patriots rounding out the top three.
The Bears are expected to take USC quarterback Caleb Williams with the first overall pick. That will leave Washington in a prime spot to take another talented player in the draft class at second overall.
So, what are the Commanders' needs heading into the draft? Who is the favorite to go second overall? Let's dive in and find out.

What are the Washington Commanders' Team Needs?
The Washington Commanders will head into the 2024 NFL Draft with a clear need at the quarterback position. Last season, the Commanders rolled with young quarterback Sam Howell, who started all 17 games for the team. Howell really struggled with turnovers, though, throwing 21 interceptions and fumbling four times.
With a new regime in Washington and Dan Quinn taking over as the head coach, the Commanders have decided to go a different route at quarterback in 2024 and beyond. They traded away Howell, a fourth-round pick, and a sixth-round pick to the Seattle Seahawks for a third-round pick and a fifth-round pick this offseason.

With Howell now gone, the Commanders are expected to draft their franchise quarterback with the second overall pick. Whichever signal-caller they select at that spot will likely be the team's starting quarterback in Week 1.
Who is Favored to be Picked No. 2 Overall?
The odds to be selected second overall by the Commanders have shifted drastically over the past couple of weeks. North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye was the heavy favorite to get drafted at that spot almost all offseason. But those odds have since changed.
Quarterback Jayden Daniels is now the clear favorite to get selected by the Commanders at second overall. Daniels is currently -150 on FanDuel to be the second player off the board in the 2024 NFL Draft, while Maye's odds have dropped to +150 on FanDuel.
REPORT: All signs reportedly lead to star QB Jayden Daniels being drafted by the Washington Commanders with the 2nd overall pick.
“I will stand behind that…The signs still continue to point to Jayden Daniels going number 2 to Washington” 👀

Washington will likely select one of those two quarterbacks with the second overall pick. Daniels remains the favorite, but things can still change drastically over the next two weeks. J.J. McCarthy (+850) and Marvin Harrison Jr.(+10,000) also have outside chances to get selected by the Commanders at that spot.
