He displays impressive athleticism and after-the-catch ability. Among tight ends with at least 53 targets, Bowers led the nation with an impressive 2.74 yards per route run (YPRR), per Pro Football Focus (PFF). He has the potential to be an immediate fantasy contributor much like Sam LaPorta last year in Detroit. The rookie just needs to land with the right coaching staff to do so.
Which Teams Would be the Best Fit for Brock Bowers?
Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers are in the middle of remodeling their receiver room. They gave longtime starters Keenan Allen and Mike Williams the boot. As a result, Justin Herbert needs a new top weapon. Bowers would immediately be paired with one of the league's best quarterbacks and become the top target in this offense. However, Los Angeles is rumored to be highly interested in a receiver at fifth overall. So, while this is a prime landing spot for Bowers, it may not be in the cards.
New York Jets
While the Jets did sign Mike Williams in free agency, he is turning 30 years old in October and coming off a torn ACL. New York is in desperate need of another legitimate threat to play alongside Garrett Wilson. Bowers would also be paired with future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers. That alone should get fantasy managers salivating. The Jets are reportedly very interested in drafting Bowers at 10th overall. This is about as good of a situation as you could ask for the young tight end.
Denver Broncos
Yes, Denver clearly needs to get its quarterback situation figured out. That aside, a pairing with head coach Sean Payton piques interest. Payton knows exactly how to use a player like Bowers. Jimmy Graham thrived in this system for years in New Orleans. Odds are good Bowers will experience similar success with Payton.
