San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has been one of the more underrated wide receivers since joining the NFL in 2020. He has been in Deebo Samuel’s shadow for most of his career, but that changed last season.
Aiyuk had a career year in 2023. The star receiver had 75 receptions on 105 targets for 1,342 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. He finished seventh in the NFL in receiving yards, ahead of several big-name receivers, including Mike Evans and Davante Adams.
Despite coming off the best year of his career, Aiyuk’s future in San Francisco is up in the air. He is entering the final year of his rookie contract, and the 49ers might not be able to afford him starting in 2025. Let’s look at which teams could trade for Aiyuk during the 2024 NFL Draft and what the compensation might be for the veteran.

Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars lost Calvin Ridley this offseason after one year with the franchise. While they added Gabe Davis in free agency, Jacksonville might not be done adding at the wide receiver position. Many believe the Jaguars wanted to sign Davis to replace Zay Jones, not Ridley. Therefore, Jacksonville is an under-the-radar team to make a blockbuster move during the NFL Draft for a wide receiver.
After signing franchise-tagged player Josh Allen to a long-term deal earlier this week, the Jaguars have the cap space needed to trade for and pay Aiyuk. Reportedly, San Francisco asked Jacksonville for Jones and the 17th pick in the NFL Draft for Aiyuk earlier this offseason. Now that Ridley is gone and the Jaguars have cap space, don’t be surprised if the two teams revisit trade talks during the NFL Draft.
Jaguars save about $13m on the new deal, which should put them at around $30m in cap space. Jags have loads of 2025 cap space.
They can easily afford a Brandon Aiyuk or Tee Higgins deal. Make it happen imo. https://t.co/evjqeaHBNW

Buffalo Bills
Buffalo needed help at the wide receiver position before the start of free agency. However, it’s the team’s top need after trading away Stefon Diggs and losing Gabe Davis in free agency. While the Bills acquired a 2025 second-round pick for Diggs, their top wide receiver is Curtis Samuel or Khalil Shakir.

Many believe Buffalo could pull Tee Higgins away from the Cincinnati Bengals. Unfortunately, that is unlikely, as Cincinnati won’t want to trade the star receiver to one of the AFC’s top contenders. However, the 49ers would have no problem sending Aiyuk to the opposite conference. The Bills would likely have to trade away their first and second-round pick for Aiyuk. Yet, that’s the move fans should hope the team makes during the NFL Draft.
