The NASCAR Cup Series 2024 season kicked off with the 66th-annual Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway on Monday afternoon after rain caused a full-day delay of The Great American Race. William Byron got the win after a wreck-filled ending, and his Hendrick Motorsports teammate, Alex Bowman, finished runner-up.
When it came to Green Flag Speed, this statistic is always skewed quite a bit at Daytona because of the amount of wrecks. Typically, the drivers that get caught up in wrecks early will show up high in Green Flag Speed because they didn't complete as many laps as their competitors.
This year's Daytona 500 is no different, as nine of the top 10 drivers in Green Flag Speed finished 29th or worse.
