Last week, the College Football Playoff committee announced the official format for the first-ever 12-team bracket. The five highest-ranked conference winners will get an automatic bid, and the next seven highest-ranked teams will receive an "at-large" invite. This is being referred to as the 5+7 model.
With 12 teams set to battle beginning in late December of 2024, there could be more parity in college football. It'll be more challenging than ever to take home a national title, and there will be additional exciting games under the new system.
Who are the top contenders to win the 2024-25 College Football Playoff National Championship following the official announcement of the new-look system? Let's take a look at the DraftKings Sportsbook lines.

Ole Miss Rebels +1500
With quarterback Jaxson Dart returning to Ole Miss and teaming up with an impressive group of players from the transfer portal, expectations in Oxford haven't been this high since Eli Manning was on campus. Could this be the year Lane Kiffin breaks through?
BREAKING: Former Texas A&M DL Walter Nolen has Committed to Ole Miss, he tells @on3sports
The 6’5 300 DL is ranked as the No. 1 Player in the Transfer Portal & was the No. 1 Recruit in the ‘22 Class 👀

Alabama Crimson Tide +1400
The loss of Nick Saban and 20-plus transfers will make the road to glory tough for Alabama in 2024. However, new head coach Kalen DeBoer has proven he can win quickly and has a 104-12 career record as a college football coach. Jalen Milroe is staying put in Tuscaloosa, and this will be a talented roster when the dust settles.
LSU Tigers +1200
Jayden Daniels, Malik Nabers, and Brian Thomas Jr. are gone, but the Tigers have had a top-tier roster in college football since the Nick Saban era. Brian Kelly has a BCS National Championship Game appearance and a College Football Playoff appearance on his resume, so he knows how to get to the big stage.

Oregon Ducks +1000
Bo Nix is out, but former Oklahoma quarterback Dillon Gabriel is in. Behind Gabriel and Dan Lanning's defensive attacking prowess, Oregon is looking to make a lot of noise in its first season in the Big Ten.
Texas Longhorns + 750
Quarterback Quinn Ewers is back for his third season in Austin, and the Longhorns proved they can stand toe-to-toe with the top of the SEC last season with its victory over Alabama. Now a member of the league, Texas is likely to regain its form as a powerhouse program.

Ohio State Buckeyes +450
Whether freshman Julian Sayin or veteran Kansas State transfer Will Howard starts for Ryan Day, the program believes its quarterback play will be improved in 2024. With Jim Harbaugh out of college football, the Buckeyes could regain control of the Big Ten. Day's only three Big Ten losses in five seasons came against Harbaugh.
Georgia Bulldogs +330
Georgia has won 42 of its last 44 games. The only two losses came against Nick Saban. With Kirby Smart's boogieman retired, it'll be interesting to see if the UGA dynasty continues or if last year was the beginning of the end.
