The Green Bay Packers have ruled the NFC North division over the past few years. They won the division title three straight years entering last season. However, things didn’t go as planned for the team.
Green Bay ended the 2022 season with an 8-9 record and finished third in the division. They lost both matchups against the Detroit Lions, including the Week 18 matchup that kept the Packers out of the playoffs.
Meanwhile, the team is currently in trade negotiations with the New York Jets centered around Aaron Rodgers. Hopefully, a deal gets done within the next week. However, trading away the future Hall of Famer isn’t the only thing the Packers need to do heading into the draft.

What Are The Green Bay Packers Biggest Needs On Offense?
Last year the Packers had two first-round picks. Despite trading away Davante Adams, the team used both selections on defense. However, they spent three draft picks on the wide receiver position. Green Bay added Christian Watson in the second round, Romeo Doubs in the fourth, and Samori Toure in the seventh.
While Watson and Doubs had productive rookie seasons, Green Bay needs more help at the wide receiver position. Veteran Allen Lazard signed with the Jets in free agency, leaving the team thin at the wide receiver. One potential draft target is Cedric Tillman. The former Volunteer is rising on draft boards and should be a top-50 draft pick.
What Are The Green Bay Packers Biggest Needs On Defense?
Green Bay has spent 11 of their past 12 first-round picks on defense. The lone exception was Jordan Love in 2020. Therefore, expect the Packers to use their first-round pick this year on defense.
Their top need is the secondary. Adrian Amos likely won’t return. Meanwhile, Darnell Savage is entering a contract year and struggled last season. One potential target is Brian Branch.
The former Alabama star can play multiple spots in the secondary, giving defensive coordinator Joe Barry options with the game plan every week. Furthermore, many believe Branch is the top safety prospect this year and a first-round lock.
Another possibility is that the Packers used their first-round pick on an edge rusher. Rashan Gary suffered a torn ACL last year and is entering the final year of his rookie contract. Furthermore, Preston Smith was the only player on the team with more than six sacks last season.
