The Los Angeles Chargers missed the playoffs in 2021 after losing in Week 18 to the Las Vegas Raiders. However, that wasn’t the case in 2022.
Despite numerous injuries on offense, Los Angeles made the playoffs last year. After losing two of their first three games, the Chargers won three straight contests. More importantly, Los Angeles won four of their final five games to end the regular season.
Unfortunately, the Chargers lost their first-round matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Following their first-round exit from the playoffs, Los Angeles will have the 21st overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

What Are The Los Angeles Chargers Biggest Needs On Offense?
The Chargers will have decisions to make this offseason. They are over the cap and will need to make some roster cuts. One potential cap casualty is Keenan Allen. The veteran receiver struggled with injuries last year. Furthermore, Los Angeles can save up to $17.5 million in salary cap space by releasing Allen this offseason.
Even if the Chargers keep the veteran receiver, they need to give Justin Herbert another weapon. Ideally, they need a wide receiver who can stretch the field vertically. Tennessee’s Jalin Hyatt would be an excellent addition to the team. He has the speed and skills needed to open up the Los Angeles offense.
Hyatt had an outstanding final year at Tennessee. The former Volunteer had 67 receptions for 1,267 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns in 2022. Furthermore, he finished first in the SEC in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns last year.
What Are The Los Angeles Chargers Biggest Needs On Defense?
Los Angeles doesn’t have many upcoming free agents on defense this year. However, Khalil Mack could be a cap casualty this offseason. The Chargers can save up to $22.9 million in salary cap space this offseason by releasing the veteran edge rusher.
Even if he returns at a reduced salary, the team still needs to add depth behind Mack and Joey Bosa. One potential draft target is Lukas Van Ness. The former Iowa star had 19 tackles for a loss and 13 sacks over his final two years in college. Furthermore, he showed the ability to overpower NFL-level offensive tackles during his time at Iowa.
