2023 NFL Draft Predictions: Chicago Bears Biggest Team Needs

justin fields fantasy football rankings news NFL DFS lineup picks

The Chicago Bears had a disappointing 2022 season. However, the team started the year on a positive note. The Bears won two of their first three games last year, including a 19-10 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1.

Chicago then got an impressive 33-14 win in Week 7 against the New England Patriots. However, it was their last win of the year. The Bears lost 10 straight games to end the regular season.

While the losing streak was unpleasant, there was a silver lining. Chicago will have the first-overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

What Are The Chicago Bears Biggest Needs On Offense?

The Bears were active during the NFL trade deadline. They traded away several veterans on defense. However, Chicago also sent their 2023 second-round pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers for Chase Claypool. Despite adding the former Notre Dame receiver, the Bears still need help at wide receiver.

While Chicago won’t use their first-round pick on a wide receiver, the team likely uses a Day 2 selection on the position. One potential target is Marvin Mims. The former Oklahoma star receiver had 1,083 receiving yards in 2022, a career-high. Furthermore, he repeatedly made crazy catches downfield during his time at Oklahoma.

Darnell Mooney, Claypool, and Mims would give Justin Fields an intriguing trio of wide receivers next year. Furthermore, Mooney and Claypool are entering the final year of their rookie contracts. Mims gives Chicago options next offseason at the wide receiver position.

What Are The Chicago Bears Biggest Needs On Defense?

Chicago has several needs on defense. At the top of the list is pass-rushing help. The Bears had only 20 sacks last season. Furthermore, safety Jaquan Brisker led the team with four sacks. He was the only player on the team with more than three sacks in 2022.

The Bears will likely trade the No. 1 draft pick in the coming weeks. Chicago could only slide back a couple of spots depending on which team moves up for the No. 1 overall pick.

If they keep the first overall pick, Jalen Carter is the likely pick. The Georgia defensive lineman was a force in college, totaling 18.5 tackles for a loss in his career. Furthermore, he repeatedly disrupted the opposing team’s backfield.
