Baller Move: Target ~150
Current ADP: 176
The bloom is off the Wil Myers rose after three injury plagued seasons in Tampa and San Diego have derailed this young talent. However Myers gains a whole new perspective coming in to 2016 in not only his new position eligibility but his chance to truly breakout to the star he was pegged to be all those years ago.
Myers now has 1B eligibility to go along with the OF slot he has been relegated to for most of his time in the majors. That alone makes him a sneaky and valuable play for 2016. His K% of 21.7 was the lowest it had been since Double-A and his ISO was well on its way to .200 before his season ended prematurely. His OBP, OPS and SLG% all took positive steps while his BABIP and wOBA creeped towards his career averages.
The key to Myers success will be capitalizing on his hard contact and staying patient with his approach. He has become such a pull hitter that teams will have to think about putting on a shift against him this year. He still pulls the ball close to 45% of the time and could become a more disciplined hitter with more seasoning and more time playing in a pitcher's park. He says his wrist feels great and he is ready to take the necessary step forward to be an asset to the Padres and your fantasy team.
