BALLER MOVE: Middle rounds as a FLEX play.
CURRENT ADP: 104 STD, 103 PPR
ANALYSIS: Has age caught up with Marques Colston? Last season he posted career lows in receptions and yards per game. He did catch five touchdown passes, but that too tied a career low.
If you feel like he’s lost a step, don’t worry. Colston is about as fast as a crippled sloth walking into a windstorm, but he finds ways to get open. More to the point, he’s still going to get his targets. He was second on the team in targets, with only the now departed Jimmy Graham ahead of him. Only once in his career has Colston seen less than 100 targets.
With the departure of Graham and Kenny Stills (number three on the team in targets), there will be even more to go around. Graham was also responsible for a team leading 10 touchdown receptions. After Colston and Brandin Cooks, there is little proven depth meaning the Saints will need to rely even more heavily on number 12 to come through.
Sean Payton loves to stretch the field vertically. Colston, despite being ostensibly a possession receiver, averaged 15.3 yards per reception last season. That was good for 15th amongst all receivers with at least 30 receptions.
Look to draft Colston in middle rounds as an excellent flex option with the potential to bounce back from a down year.
