BALLER MOVE: Target ~100 Overall in PPR Leagues, ~150 Overall in Standard Leagues
CURRENT ADP: 161 STD, 117 PPR
ANALYSIS: None of the Titans' three quarterbacks last year -- Jake Locker, Charlie Whitehurst and Zach Mettenberger -- had a completion percentage that ranked in the top 25. It’s hard for any receiver to succeed under those circumstances.
In 2015, Kendall Wright will almost certainly get better QB play, as second overall pick Marcus Mariota is the favorite to start. Mariota was an extremely efficient QB in college, showing great placement and timing on short routes. This is the ideal QB situation for Wright. Five games with Mettenberger in 2015 resulted in 19 receptions for 337 yards and a touchdown for Wright. It’s nothing flashy, but his FantasyPros ADP is currently 159-- essentially undrafted. Anytime you can get a potential 1000-yard receiver that late in the draft, it’s an absolute steal.
Despite a disappointing season last year, Wright still flashed the same skills that made him a solid receiver in standard leagues and an excellent PPR receiver in 2013. In each of the past two seasons, he was in the top ten in yards after catch per reception (6.2 in 2013, 6.6 in 2014). 80 receptions and 950 yards is a more-than-reasonable expectation for Wright in 2015. He may never be a big touchdown guy, but he should settle in around four or five scores. With those numbers, he is a weekly play and remains a fantastic bargain, especially in PPR leagues.
