BALLER MOVE: Target in late rounds as a TE2 with TE1 upside
CURRENT ADP: 145 Standard, 127 PPR
ANALYSIS: Tyler Eifert's ADP is at TE13, despite playing only 16 games in his two-year career. After being drafted in the first round out of Notre Dame in 2013 many expected Tyler Eifert to have an immediate impact in the Cincinnati Bengals offense. However, the presence of Jermaine Gresham and a slew of injuries did not allow him to establish a serious rapport with quarterback Andy Dalton during his first two seasons in the NFL.
Healthy and atop the depth chart, Eifert finally has the opportunity to gain the trust of his quarterback. It was reported by Bengals.com's Geoff Hobson that "nobody has been able to cover" Eifert and Andy Dalton seems to look in his direction "whenever he's in a jam or needs a big play". This bodes well for Eifert due to the fact that behind A.J. Green there is a lot of uncertainty as to who can make plays for Andy "The Red Rifle" Dalton.
At 6'6" and 250 pounds Tyler Eifert has the body to been an immediate contributor in the red zone for the Bengals, while his 4.68-40 time at the Combine and gaudy college stats show that he has the ability to stretch the seam and win battles in coverage as well. In his three years in college, Eifert caught 140 passes for 1,840 yards and 11 touchdowns. That is an average of 13.1 yards per reception, which shows he can do much more than just catch jump balls in the back of the end zone.
New-found chemistry with Andy Dalton makes it a strong possibility that Eifert is poised for a breakout season. He is an enticing pick based solely on measurables, and the fact that he is being seriously considered for a large role in the Bengals offense makes him a great value late in your fantasy draft.
