Welcome back to another edition of first-base and third-base waiver wire pickups! We've already reached Week 9 for the season, but have yet to reach a shortage of hot hitters who can fulfill needs at the corners.
The hitters mentioned below have had fantastic showings during the month of May, and don't seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Grab them while you can!
Here are more first base and third base fantasy baseball waiver wire pickups to consider for Week 9 – May 21 through May 28.

Waiver Wire for Shallow Leagues (30-50% rostered)
Geraldo Perdomo, 3B/SS, Arizona Diamondbacks (34% rostered)
Perdomo began to cool off after a hot start to the 2023 campaign but has swatted two home runs in his last four games, hopefully, a sign of better things to come as May nears its end. Overall, the 23-year-old is slashing .313/.404/.525 across 35 games this year for the D-backs.
The Dominican Republic native has nearly eclipsed his home run total from last season (5) in 382 fewer plate appearances. Perdomo has been a key piece to Arizona's hot start (26-20) to begin the year.
Brian Anderson, 3B/OF, Milwaukee Brewers (33% rostered)
Like Perdomo, Anderson has also logged two homers in his last four games, along with four RBI and four walks in his last seven. Overall, he has seven long balls on the year, 24 RBI, and 19 walks. His .753 OPS isn't shabby, but it'd certainly help the Brew Crew out if the former Miami Marlin could take an even bigger step forward.
As long as the 2014 third-round pick can stay off of the injured list—a place he's become familiar with over the last few seasons—he should be able to find success with Milwaukee. Hitting a 408 ft. bomb off of the best team in baseball is one way to do that.
Waiver Wire for Deeper Leagues (10-30% rostered)
Spencer Torkelson, 1B, Detroit Tigers (10% rostered)
Torkelson certainly hasn't had the start to his MLB career that he—or the Tigers—have wanted. The 2020 first-overall pick has just 12 home runs, 48 RBI, and a .624 OPS to his name in his career thus far.
Not particularly promising, but the 23-year-old has youth on his side, and the fact that he hasn't even played a full major league season in his career yet (152 games). The California native has had a solid May, batting .290/.333/.484 with six doubles, two homers, and nine RBI.
Detroit is a rebuilding team and could use former top prospects Torkelson and Riley Greene to really come into their own and cement themselves as cornerstones of the Tigers' offense to help shape the franchise's future.
Nick Pratto, 1B/OF, Kansas City Royals (21% rostered)
Pratto appeared in Week 8's waiver wire pickups and has continued to swing the bat well this past week. For the month of May, the 24-year-old has slashed .315/.422/.537 alongside two home runs and 11 RBI.
The former first-rounder has solid numbers against both righties and lefties, most notably a 1.167 OPS in 12 plate appearances against Southpaws. He's worth a pickup.
Deeper Waiver Wire Options to Consider (Under 10%)
Owen Miller, 1B/2B/3B, Milwaukee Brewers (5% rostered)
Our second Brewer on the list, Miller's been hot in May. He's slashed an outstanding .409/.413/.659 with five doubles, a home run, and four RBI across 42 plate appearances. He's been a bright spot for the Brewers this month, as they've limped to a 6-10 record thus far following an impressive start to the season in April at 18-9.
Along with his teammate Anderson, Miller also belted a 377 ft. homer off of Rays starter Zach Eflin on Saturday, which came off the bat at 103 mph.
More Players to Consider
- Christian Bethancourt, C/1B - Tampa Bay Rays (8% rostered)
- Ryan Noda, 1B/OF - Oakland Athletics (2% rostered)
