Immanuel Quickley (PG/SG, NYK): Week 21 Waiver Wire Pickups

Immanuel Quickley is worth considering as a fantasy basketball waiver wire pickup heading into Week 21 of the NBA season.

ANALYSIS: Are the Knicks tanking, or are the Knicks fighting for that play-in berth? Hard to tell with this wreck of a coach handling the rotation in Tom Thibodeau. If you ask me, I'd say the Knicks have found the sweet spot at both developing young guys (not an easy task having Thibs at the helm, mind you) and not entirely tanking. One of the main beneficiaries of this new approach to the home stretch has been Immanuel Quickley, who has now played 20+ minutes in seven consecutive games, being one of the main players off the Knicks pine.

IQ was great last season and everybody got mollyhyped about his potential. Then 2021 arrived and Quick came back down to Earth a bit disappointing some folks out there and having the fan going against the sophomore. Such a Knicks Fan reaction, that one. But IQ has been good enough to right his wrongs and has rebounded in great fashion of late. After the ASB Quickley is playing 27 MPG while putting up a 15-5-3-1 nightly average which is far from a bad line. Quick has scored on double figures in seven of the past nine games while he's only missed on hitting at least a three-point shot once in that span.

The shooting percentage from the floor in March is currently sitting at 48.8% through Friday, which is quite a rebound considering his early-season struggles. IQ is also going to the line a ton of late (36 FTA in the past seven games, 34-of-36 converted), is guaranteed to steal a ball per game (1 steal in each of the past seven matches), is rebounding a lot of balls and the only blip he's showing is that of the high TOPG rate (nearly 1.3). They say IQ doesn't have enough to man the PG of the Knicks going forward, I say he has an overall nice rounded game that makes up for whatever negative you want to point out. Gimme IQ for the future. Full stop.
