BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 34% of leagues
ANALYSIS: So far this year, St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Tyler O'Neill has been showcasing a power bat unlike we've yet to see from him in the Majors. He's hit five home runs and slugged .468 through 24 games. And it doesn't look like he'll be slowing down anytime soon.
O'Neill currently has an xSLG of .596, which ranks in the top 5% of the league. He also ranks in the top 10% of the league in xwOBA (.389) and xwOBAcon (.563). Through the early going this year, he has made monstrous strides from 2020, when he struggled through 50 games, slashing .173/.261/.360 with seven home runs. His hard-hit rate is up from 39.2% in 2020 to 47.2% this year and his barrel rate is up from 8.2% in 2020 to 15.1% this year.
O'Neill has the type of toolset that could enable him to become an all-out fantasy stud, particularly in rotisserie and head-to-head categories leagues. Apart from his power potential, he has significant base stealing upside. He ranks in the 99th percentile in sprint speed this year and already has three stolen bases. Batting average could be a statistic where he struggles, but if he keeps delivering strong power numbers with some stolen bases on the side, fantasy managers will be fine with it. He should be rostered in all leagues and has a chance to be a top-30 outfielder the rest of the way this year.
