BALLER MOVE: Add in 12-Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 34% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Few players across the league are as hot right now as Cincinnati Reds outfielder Tyler Naquin. In his first eight games as a Red, Naquin has slashed .333/.438/.926. with five home runs, 14 RBI and seven runs.
The 29-year-old Naquin spent the first five years of his MLB career with the Cleveland Indians before signing a minor league contract with the Reds in February. He showed flashes of promise during his time in Cleveland, but could never stay consistent and wasn't ever able to hold down a starting role for the team for a significant period of time.
Through eight games this year, Naquin ranks amongst the top 1% of the league in hard-hit rate (76.2%) and xwOBACON (.719). He also ranks in the top 2% in average exit velocity (97.5 mph) and in the top 4% in barrel rate (23.8%). Naquin is no stranger to making hard contact. He posted a hard-hit rate of 51.6% last year, ranking amongst the top 7% of the league. He's just never been able to sustain a home run rate like the pace he's on right now.
Naquin should be added in all leagues of 12 teams or deeper. More likely than not, this is just a hot streak from him, but he's worth rostering for as long as he's able to stay on this run.
