Lineup Changes
Formally for daily games, rosters were accumulated under the following format;
1 Goalkeeper
2 Defenders
2 Midfielders
2 Forwards
1 FLEX (A player of any position except GK)
Starting this weekend, for the MLS Playoffs and Matchday 11 of the English Premier League, rosters will be expanded to a full 11-player lineup and will be adjusted to the following new format;
1 Goalkeeper
3 Defenders
3 Midfielders
2 Forwards
2 Utility Players (Much like the formally used FLEX – any position player with the exception of goalkeeper)

Scoring Changes
- "Assists" will be increased from 5 points to 6 points
- "Crosses", worth 1 point, are now expanded from open play and include corner kicks and set pieces
- "Intercepted Passes" are a new scored statistic for defenders, midfielders, and forwards and will be awarded 0.5 points a piece
- "Tackles Won" are also a new scored stat and will be worth 1 point
With the new rules in place, specific players and certain positions will see an increase in their respective scoring output. In turn, players that were once fantasy afterthoughts, could be a valuable and economic addition to a weekend squad. Players that operate in a withdrawn role will now be appropriately valued and rewarded for their defensive efforts.
Players that Will Benefit From The Scoring Adjustment
*Premier League Players
Lucas Leiva – Midfielder – Liverpool
Like all holding midfielders, Leiva will see his value significantly increase under the new scoring structure. His 48 tackles-won lead the league, a staggering total considering he has played and started in just eight league games, an average of at least six points a week.
Chris Smalling – Defender – Manchester United
Through the season’s first quarter, there have been very few defenders (if any) that have performed better than Smalling. The top choice center back for both United and England has had immense success this season after failing to establish himself as a regular contributor in his previous five seasons. Quantifiable proof of his improved play is his sum of 71 intercepted passes, the most significant accumulation in the league.
Robbie Brady – Midfielder – Norwich City
Brady is one of the most effective tacklers in football, winning an average of four per game (40 total). In addition to his efficient tackling, the Irish International lines up for Norwich’s direct and indirect free kicks as well as the majority of the Canary’s corner kicks.
