The Los Angeles Rams are struggling to find their identity in 2022, and recent shuffling at the running back position continues to muddy the waters.
Darrell Henderson Jr. leads the position with 68 carries for 274 yards through Week 10, but his workload could take a hit in the coming weeks. Cam Akers returned to the field in Week 9 after missing two games to sort out some drama with the team. Week 10 saw rookie Kyren Williams enter the mix after an eight-week stint on injured reserve with an ankle injury.
Should fantasy football managers continue to ride with Darrell Henderson on this carousel of running backs? Can he be comfortably dropped to waivers?
How Has Darrell Henderson Jr. Performed in Fantasy Football This Season?
Darrell Henderson currently sits at RB42 on the year in half-PPR scoring with 7.1 fantasy points per game. He reached a season-high 12.2 fantasy points upon Akers’ first absence in Week 6, and he has since failed to top a double-digit fantasy production.
Henderson has also seen a recent dip in his receiving volume. After averaging 2.85 targets per game through Week 8, he has completed just one catch for 11 yards on two total targets in Weeks 9-10. The offense will be forced to spread the ball with Cooper Kupp (ankle) on injured reserve, but Henderson isn’t likely to absorb much of the target share.
Should I Drop Darrell Henderson Jr. In Fantasy Football?
The reigning Super Bowl champions climbed to their peak last season and managed to hit every bump as they tumbled back down to earth. The Rams' offense will adapt to a new structure without Cooper Kupp, and the prospect of a three-headed backfield should keep their running backs out of most fantasy lineups.
Darrell Henderson should still be viewed as the starter after maintaining a position-leading 57% offensive snap share in Week 10. Expect his volume to diminish as Kyren Williams grows into a more prominent role while Cam Akers continues to mix in.
Williams has the potential to emerge as a viable fantasy option down the stretch but should be valued as a bench stash for now. Henderson can still be used as a desperation flex play in 12-team leagues or higher, but you should feel comfortable dropping him to find a better use for the roster spot.
