One and Done Selections - The Wells Fargo Championship
In this feature, our golf staff of Joe Nicely, Spencer Aguiar, Joe Idone, Matt Miller, Byron Lindeque, and our special guest will provide their weekly golf picks every Wednesday. The purpose of this article is to present you with alternative options to consider and hopefully make your selection a much easier process weekly. With that plan in mind, let's get started!
Joe Nicely - Xander Schauffele
Xander can be a bit of a hot potato topic among golf fans. Do we praise him for the elite consistency that he seems to bring to every big event or do we criticize him for his seeming inability to actually win meaningful tournaments?
In a sense, the Wells Fargo seems to fall in the perfect sweet spot for the talented enigma that is the X-Man…it’s a Signature Event hosted on a major championship-caliber golf course, yet it doesn’t quite bring major-level pressure with it. It’s a great fit for Schauffele, who scored a runner-up finish in last year’s edition of the Wells Fargo and gets a fairly clear runway this go ‘round with both Scottie Scheffler and Ludvig Aberg sidelined this week.
Yearly Earnings - $5,654,351
Yearly Cuts Made - 14/15
Joe Idone
Yearly Earnings - $2,220,701
Yearly Cuts Made - 10/16

Spencer Aguiar - Patrick Cantlay
Alternate - Wyndham Clark
If you are front-running a league and only need to make one selection, I would go toward Wyndham Clark. However, Cantlay will be the contrarian name who makes this article a little easier to produce since I need a solo hit.
Yearly Earnings - $5,941,564
Yearly Cuts Made - 14/16
Matt Miller
Yearly Earnings - $2,392,333
Yearly Cuts Made - 12/16
Byron Lindeque - Xander Schauffele
Nice stuff from Benny An to back door a T4 for the Ketchup Kings. I am in utter disbelief looking back on my selections so far and realizing that Chan Kim at the Mexico was our third biggest earner ($220K) … two hundred measly thousand dollars is our third best effort at finding the winner with all options on the table …. WE NEED TO GET IT TOGETHER!!!!
This has come out of complete left field but we need to get on the board and there is nobody left playing in the Well “See ya” Fargo Championship more rock solid right now than Xander Schauffele (my pun referencing both Scottie and Ludvig (arguably the world’s two best players) not playing after withdrawals AND Wells Fargo (A Bank - A symbol of security and sustainability) is pulling out as Sponsor of this event…not good.
Anyway, back to Xander. He gives us a very likely chance of cashing a top 10, if not a top 5, with a rather reasonable chance that he is battling one of our four outrights down the stretch on Sunday. So this is an emotional hedge avoid missing out on his first win, with Quail Hollow likely being a top-3 venue for him to land a win based off his course fit. If he doesn’t win, lets pocket a few mil and move on once more.
Yearly Earnings - $2,176,090
Yearly Cuts Made - 13/16
Mia The Model - Wyndham Clark
Alternate - Hideki Matsuyama
Byron T20
